Feeling like a million bucks in the morning, I remember that my mom reminded me on Christmas about the Buckingham Palace. Looking at the subway map on how to get there, I saw a station called ‘Baker.’ I wonder if it’s near 221B Baker St. Did a bit of research and find out that it was and there was also a Sherlock museum there. I’ll pay it a visit after the palace!
After breakfast and getting clean, I head out the door at 11. Taking the subway to a station about halfway there, I find out out that this is the last stop due to planned maintenance on the tracks. Well, crap. Time to backtrack the 20-minute journey that I have already invested and go a different route. All in all, it took me a hour and forty minutes to get to the palace. Once arriving, I find it was well worth the extra time. Seeing the palace, the guards, the parks surrounding the area, and finding a war memorial dedicated to Canadian soldiers from the two World Wars (it was made out of stone from the Canadian Shield). Spent a good hour in the area before making my way towards Baker Station.
Inside the Baker Station, there was Sherlock Holmes art everywhere. I make my way towards the museum and find that there was thirty-plus people waiting inline to get inside. Nope! I’m not waiting that long. Instead I go into the gift shop and pickup a few things. A new pen because my old one just ran out of ink. An enigma book, a Zippo lighter for a friend, and a handful of Sherlock business cards that were free for the taking.
After, I go back to the palace to buy some souvenirs then went back to the apartment. By the time I got through the door, it was 6 o’clock and I had two loads of laundry to do. Today is my last day here so might as well clean all my clothes before I leave.
Off to Cardiff tomorrow. The capital of Wales!
